News – First Kicks this Saturday!

Information for Registered First Kickers:

We can not wait to welcome you to a new season of football! For those of you who have been with us before, thank you for coming back and those of you who are new, welcome and we hope you all enjoy First Kicks.

The season starts this Saturday, we ask that everyone arrives from 8.30am to give us enough time to issue shirts, sign your child in, point you in the right direction and introduce you to your Pod Leaders.

We do ask that you allow us the time to sort everyone out, we have over 150 kids for First Kicks and 160 kids for Fun Football all arriving at the same time.

On arrival, check what pod your child is in. This will be displayed on the large board that will be erected by the BBQ, then queue in the correct Pod line to receive your child’s club t shirt.  We will be issuing t shirts to all Pod children that have paid fees.  Please Note:  Children that have not paid fees, will not be issued a t shirt.  We will have an eftpos machine available on site and you can check with either myself before hand or on the day whether or not you have paid your fees.

After your child has received their t shirt, then they can make their way to the correct Pod flag.  The first games will start at 9.00am and the session will run until 10.00am. They will do 4 x 10min skill sessions and then some mini games. A hooter will signal the changes.

We will have maps up around the place to find your Pod – this may change week to week so we do ask that you look out for your Pod Flag number.

If you do not see your child’s name in the attached list please let me know ASAP. Or if your child has chosen not to play First Kicks this year please let me know so we can offer their space.

Please have your child at the A & P Showgrounds at 8.30am on Saturday 14th May 2022.

Organiser

Arron Parker is our co-ordinator for the season on the day and will be there to guide you (in a bright pink high vis vest). Accompanying him will be Aileen, Suz and Dean who are First Kicks/ Fun Football experts along with numerous faces from the Puke AFC club to help.

For any admin purposes please email secretary@pukekoheafc.com, on the day the above is your go to for help.

 

Absences

Do not feel you have to report your child’s absence. If you want to let us know that would be great however it is not a necessity at this age. And if your child feels unwell please do keep them home.

 

Uniforms

All children playing (regardless of age) require shin pads and soccer boots.  These can be purchased from Warehouse, Rebel, Stirling Sports Pukekohe (any brand).

Children are also required to provide their own Pukekohe AFC Maroon Nike club shorts and Maroon Nike Club socks.  These can only be purchased from Stirling Sports Pukekohe.  (Only our club Nike shorts and socks are permitted please). A voucher is attached.

Club t shirts will need to be returned at the end of the season.

Remember that it does rain, kids get wet (really wet!) please keep a spare change of clothes in the car with a towel, they will thank you for it later! Parents – gumboots, umbrellas and puffer jackets are highly recommended.

 

Sausage Sizzle

We will have a Sausage Sizzle running for $2 a sausage.

We currently have some 2nd hand boots available for sale or swap.  Either purchase a pair of second hand boots for $5 or bring a pair of boots your child has grown out of and swap for a larger pair for free.  We would be most grateful of your donation of smaller boots to the club to replenish our stocks.

 

Wet Weather Updates

On occasion the fields will be closed due to wet weather.

To check if play will continue on any given Saturday morning please phone our

‘Southern Small Whites Wet Weather Line’ and listen to the message:  027 483 4078.  Please do not leave a message on this phone as it is not checked regularly.

 

Help Needed

We are still requiring parental assistance on all Pods please.  We have some awesome volunteers, mostly players from our Club who give up their time to come and coach your children. However, to make the programme successful and enjoyable for your child, we need more helpers!  You do not need to have any football knowledge as skill sheets are easy to follow and training is provided.  It is simple to have fun with the kids.

Please talk to your Pod Co-Ordinator (Yellow Hi viz vest) if you are able to assist or speak with Arran Parker (First Kicks Co-Ordinator Hot Pink Hi viz vest).
