Coaching Clinic with Chris and Neil attracts over 50 youth players
By Willy Schoppe @ 8:46 p.m. :: 217 Views :: 9 Comments :: :: Youth Teams
It's always a brand new road
Dodgin' the same old stones
Coverin' the same old ground
And what goes around is surely gonna come around
                                                                                                                                    (JMayall)

Coaching Clinic with Chris Milicich, Neil Emblen and Grant Robertson

You could be forgiven for feeling the blues after what seemed like an eternity of rain. Bledisloe Park didn’t oblige on this Sunday morning, in its water logged ugliness it was not going to be the venue for the much anticipated coaching clinic with Messieurs Milicich, Emblen and Robertson. Instead the Basketball courts at the Pukekohe Recreational Centre, thanks to the quick thinking of Mr –President- Wild, turned into the stage for 50odd enthusiastic participants.

Red Devilz’s dance with the Samba Eagles
By Willy Schoppe @ 3:57 p.m. :: 134 Views :: 2 Comments :: :: Youth Teams
"When shall we win again?
In thunder, lightning, or in rain?
When the hurly-burly’s done,
When the battle's lost and won.
That will be ere the set of sun.
Where the place?
Upon the heath.
There to meet with them who seethe?
I come, Graymalkin!
Paddock calls.
Anon.
Fair is foul, and foul is fair:
Hover through the fog and filthy air."

[Loosely after WS]

No witches, no witch craft, just some Devilz, plenty of Samba and Eagles, escaping with the spoils.

Zdravstvuyte Tavarish; how good is this ENGLISH football team? Click through for some musings.

Red Devilz’s Groundhog Day casts a shadow and leaves a taste of blue(s).
By Willy Schoppe @ 5:01 p.m. :: 105 Views :: 0 Comments :: :: Youth Teams
“Devil with a blue dress, blue dress, blue dress
Devil with a blue dress on
Devil with a blue dress, blue dress, blue dress
Devil with a blue dress on
Fee, fee, fi, fi, fo, fo, fum…”

Yeah alright, unlike Mr. C. Rattue; most of us were there (I am sure I spotted L DM in a chequered shirt over his tight blue jeans boogying it up, clutching a long neck Bud) at the Hammersmith Odeon in ’75 when Jon Landau decided he had seen the future of Rock’n Roll, in persona of Mr. B. Springsteen… funny what a Detroit Medley can do to you. 33 years on we were there when the future of PAFC football graced messy Massey Park, it was all Rock’n Roll but we still got the blues from the show.

Never again since Andy Brehme muttered this unforgettable truism in front of a live audience of 38 million viewers on prime time free to air TV would it have summed up an otherwise entertaining game of football more adequately than this weekend at the (softening) Bledisloe Park, the home of the Red Devilz.
