Trial Process

Trial Setup

·          Players will be handed a bib as they arrive and register.
·          Players should warm up
·          Players will be then placed into teams.
·          Fields will be marked with cones, 45m long and 30m wide to play 7v7.
·          Players must not swap bibs.

Player Rating

Players will be given a mark on a scale of 1-10. The average between graders will determine the score.  We are looking for the most skilful players. Preferred positions are only a guideline. The players skills/attributes are the most important rather than the position they playing in the trial. In younger age groups players are generally yet to find the best position and will change as they develop.

What are we looking for?

·          Players with good technique/skills on the ball.
·          Players who can control and pass the ball – not just boot it up the field
·          Players who have desire and high work rates
·          Players who look to move into positions off the ball and support the player in possession
·          Players who can tackle and defend
·          Players who consistently make the right football decision (game awareness)

What are we NOT looking for?

·          Players that dominate primarily due to their physical size and or /speed and not their technical ability.
·          Players that just “boot” the ball often and do not look to control the ball and pass
·          Players that hog the ball without consideration of the game situation
·          Players with low work rates
