The women's first team came back from 1-0 down against Bay Olympic on Sunday to claim a 2-1 win at Pukekohe High School.
After falling behind to a spot kick from the visitors, goals to Rose Kraakman and Courtney van Lieshout (her first in senior football), ensured the home side got back to winning ways against the nine-player Bay Olympic side.
The Maroons moved the ball around pitch effectively and created more than enough chances to win the game by a bigger margin with the front two and midfield four all heavily involved in the neat lead-up work.
The home side got back on level terms via a superbly whipped Nicole Kraakman corner which was met emphatically by the head of her mother Rose inside the six yard box.
Despite a host of opportunities to increase the score before and after the half time break, the 1-1 scoreline remained until Courtney sent a shot on target from the edge of the box that was good enough to find its way into the net.
Player of the day went to Courtney at left back as the starting point of a number of flowing attacks.
The next outing for the team is against second-placed Three Kings United at Keith Hay Park on Sunday. Kickoff 11am.
