A poor 15-minute defensive spell during the first half cost the men's first team dearly in their 0-3 loss to Onehunga Mangere United AFC at Bledisloe Park on Saturday.
The visitors took a 25th minute lead when Lewis Black found space at the near post and easily flicked home a freekick.
Six minutes later Kyosuke Kitano - the league's player of the month in April - benefitted from an underhit back header and slotted simply past Trent Hirst in goal to double the lead.
Black grabbed his second goal of the game on the 40 minute mark when he smashed in a layoff from Dean Delaney on the edge of the box.
That 0-3 halftime deficit proved to be the final margin as the home side picked up their effort in the second spell.
Skipper Marcus Bathan was a standout for the home side in midfield.
The Maroons' next outing is away trip to Cambridge FC's John Kerkhof Park on Saturday. Kick off 2.45pm.
