One more to go!

Three Kings 0 Pukekohe 3 (HT 0-3) Scorer; Andy Evans, Nick Rowe, Jon Waller

Pukekohe team: Colin Pegg, Martin Bennett, Andy Bell, Jay Presnall, Richie Sharples, Matt Nugent, Colin Case, Jon Waller, Paul Coles, Jamie Pegg, Nick Brunger, Nick Rowe, Neil Skerry, Andy Evans.

Saturday saw the welcome return of old Golden Shins and Captain Fantastic to the squad and whilst the latter was not fit enough to play the lads were buoyed by the presence. The first 10 minutes saw us make our usual slow start and we had Colin to thank for a sharp save at full stretch. Thankfully we didn’t take a whole half to get sorted out, but before we found our form Three kings broke through and their striker met the ball on the edge of the 6 yard box and as he drew his leg back to apply the finishing touch Marty Bennett appeared from nowhere, stretched out a leg Inspector Gadget like and made the tackle of the season. The guy looked stunned and with that chance gone begging so did Three Kings chances.

Puke emerged from their slumber to play some great football with Andy and Nick both taking their chances well before Jon Waller thumped home a great header. At 3-0 the game was effectively over with half the game to go.

The second half saw more of the same with many more chances created, though unfortunately wasted. Nevertheless, the win sees us move to the final game of the season on Saturday at home to Bay Olympic with a draw enough to secure the league title. The kick off time is 2.45 at Bledisloe Park and anybody that can get along to support would be greatly appreciated as the 3rds seek to add a second successive title, and go the whole league season unbeaten.

Congratulations to Marty for being Player of the day, well done.

Scorers season to date: 15 Andy Evans, 10 Nick Rowe, 9 Jamie Pegg, 4 Jon Waller, 2 Nick Brunger, Neil Skerry, Matt Nugent, 1 Colin Case, Liam MacDonald, George Miller, Ari Kloeten, Paul Coles. 3 Goals awarded for default win.

Well done lads. I believe that you now have the championship in the bag, as Fencibles only managed a draw on the weekend. So no pressure, now you can have a nice relaxed game to end the season! Congratulations on behalf of the 4th team.
