The ladies' first team drew 2-2 with Lynn-Avon United AFC on Sunday in horrible conditions for football at Bledisloe Park.
The Maroons scored in each half through captain Leanne Dodd (penalty) and striker Nicola Birch.
Birch's goal mid-way through the second half levelled the scores at 2-2 after the visitors had fought back to lead 2-1. Leanne had earlier opened the scoring from the spot.
The Maroons had regular chances to extend their advantage before and after Doddy's driven spot kick but had two cleared off the line and were frustrated by some effective scrambling defense from the visitors.
Despite the shocking conditions and the puggy middle third of the pitch, the Pukekohe side can be proud of their team performance as they moved the ball from box to box with some neat link play involving everyone on the park.
Player of the day Nicole Kraakman was a constant threat to Lynn-Avon's right side and was involved in most of the dangerous exchanges in the final third.
Robyn Davis and Amy Wild (reserve and third team respectively) stepped up to fill in and both players had strong games.
Huge thanks to Blair, who with his own team not playing, came down and sorted the nets and ran the line for us along with the dedicated crew of supporters who braved the wet and the cold.
Hope you enjoyed it.
Pukekohe's next game is a home clash with league-leaders University-Mt Wellington on Sunday at 11am.
