The 9th Grade Pukekohe Tigers took on the Waiuku Jaguars on Saturday.
The Tigers started off well, opening the scoring in the first couple of minutes with a blinder from Thomas Du Maurier and this was just the beginning… Jake was also in goal-scoring mood, as he put an effort just wide and another hitting the post. It was therefore no surprise when Thomas added a second, then completed his hat trick before half time.
The second half continued in similar vain and the Tigers welcomed Dane back after lending him to Waiuku for the first half. This was due to a few of the Waiuku team being late as they work on a different time zone to that of Pukekohe.
However, what we gained, was instantly lost, when Tigers midfielder Mark Gouldstone left the field due to feeling unwell. Drew was also not feeling the best but managed to fight on. Finally, The General compounded the situation, when coach, Peter Sutcliffe, was unable to do his turn refereeing, due to a dose of the flu, so thanks to Joseph’s Dad who stepped in.
Despite all that, the remainder of the team gelled beautifully and scored a further 5 goals in the second half. Saveyam scored 2 glorious goals, Jake finally got the one he had been craving (His mum said after he scored “You can’t rush Jake”) Thomas finished it off with another couple to finish the game with 5 goals and a final scoreline of 8-0.
Great performace also from Andrew Sutcliff again and without Joseph and although not mentioning all the names the rest of the team what a wonderful preformance.
