The ladies' first team got back to winning ways at Waikaraka Park on Sunday, taking a comfortable 4-0 win over Onehunga Sports.
After a frustrating 0-1 loss to league leaders Clendon last weekend in which the Maroons created a succession of chances but could not score, the Maroons needed all three points to keep alive their chances of taking second place in the standings.
They duly obliged with a dominant first half display in which they found the net three times with Sarah Holmes, Nicola Birch and skipper Leanne Dodd all hitting the target.
With a comfortable lead the bench was emptied for the second half and Sarah made the final scoreline 4-0 with her second of the match.
Goals weren't the only things the ladies collected during the match however as Nicola and Kelsea MacDonald both suffered blows to the head and were rewarded with a Sunday afternoon trip the A&E for their bravery.
Nicola will be sporting an impressive black eye for a few days after a head clash with an opposition defender while Kelsea has little recollection of the match after two blows to her skull while challenging for headers.
The ladies will hope to maintain their momentum at Bledisloe Park on Sunday against Mt Albert Ponsonby at 11am.
