Pukekohe 3 Manurewa 0 (HT 1-0) Scorers; Ari Kloeten, Jamie Pegg, Andy Evans
Pukekohe team: Colin Pegg, Martin Bennett, Neil Skerry, Ari Kloeten, Richie Sharples, Colin Case, Matt Nugent, Jon Waller, Paul Coles, Jamie Pegg, Andy Evans, Nick Brunger, Steve Fabrello.
First of all let me say a big thank you to Glenn for officiating and Steve and Gavin for sitting on the bench for us much appreciated gentlemen, you are all heroes.
It was a very different looking Manurewa team that took the field against us on Saturday compared to that faced in the first game of the season but in many respects the match was quite similar. The first 10 minutes were quite even as both teams went through a settling period, with Puke gradually taking control to become dominant in both possession and territory. As can often be the case when you start to get a lot of the ball around the opposition box, everyone started to have a shot rather than play the easy ball, but at the time such was the territorial advantage that the call from the back was boys keep swinging. That said with the standard of shooting at times we looked like absolute beginners.
As is often the case this season a lot of room started to open up wide and from an attack after the 30 minute mark, we won a corner on the right. A superb cross to the back stick and Ari arrived to score his first senior goal for the club and enjoy his moment of fame. Unfortunately we failed to build on this dominance as not for the first time this season we played some great football until the final third where our option taking, but above all shooting really let us down.
Turning round at half time only a goal to the good was very disappointing and so I decided to make some changes and went with 3 up front, and pace to burn. Andy, Jamie and Nick stretched the Manurewa defence all over the place and they constantly found themselves under pressure. All 3 had chances that on another day they would bury, but bizarrely the 2nd goal came from probably the longest range shot of the day when Jamie buried one from a full 20 metres, superb effort and his shooting on the day was a bit of the beauty and the beast.
No game is truly complete without Mr Evans getting on the score sheet although he tried hard not too in this one, but when you are in your golden years there is a sense of inevitability and he duly obliged although his usual claim of lashing it into the top corner might be disputed here.
Another win, to be fair never in doubt but shooting practice awaits on Thursday. On Saturday our star man was Matt Nugent, another great performance, well done. Also, a mention for Colin Case who had his best game of the season too, and is starting to make a real impact.
Scorers season to date: 9 Andy Evans, 5 Jamie Pegg, 4 Nick Rowe, , 3 Jon Waller, Colin Case, Liam MacDonald, George Miller, Neil Skerry, Ari Kloeten. 3 Goals awarded for default win.

Great work lads. Nice write up Paul.
These are certainly golden years for the 3rd team. Keep up the good work.
