17th Blue Continue Winning Form

The 17th Grade boys showed again they know how to score goals with a 5-1 win over Lynn  Avon this week. It was another very good all round team performance with a strong showing across the park. THere were many features to admire:

Backs bringing the ball forward strongly, midfield challenging every ball, strikers running free- calling for the ball and getting great delivery.

If the game  proved one age old adage it would be "chase everything". Whether defending, competing in midfield or running at goal these boys run at everything and don't give up.  The first saw a long ball played through- their keeper started coming, their defender ran back to cover but they didn't count on Elliot at top speed sprinting, stretching and getting a side foot on it to tap it passed the keeper  who turned in horror to watch it trickle across the line. Elliots second proved that if in doubt strike towards goal as you don't know what might happen- the keeper expected a cross to come in- Elliot hit it low on goal and the surprised keeper reached down to snatch at the ball, missed and it ran between his legs into the net (again this week if there had been one!)

Elliot also contributed to another goal by chasing down a long ball from half way then provided a perfect cross for a tap in from Paul who was where every good striker should be - in front of goal. Paul scored a second and Ben pushed one passed the keeper after another burst of blinding speed saw him get in behind the defenders.

Lynn Avon pulled one back after a vicious bounce saw Daniel handball in the box. Nekoda was close to getting something behind the ball to save the penalty but it was in off the post.

5-1, another solid win from a solid performing team. Well done guys, your positive play and positive attitude make my job as manager easy and enjoyable.
