After putting in an amazing effort against Premier League Eastern Suburbs last weekend, the ladies' first team tripped on Sunday with a flat display in a home 1-0 loss to Bay Olympic.
The Maroons never really got going in the match played under sunny skies at Bledisloe Park and they were made to pay for it when a long-range strike from a Bay Olympic midfielder sealed the three points.
Pukekohe link player Sarah Holmes had the Maroons best effort but her first-half strike flashed wide of the left-hand upright.
The ladies had their share of possession and created several other goalscoring opportunities but the closest they came to levelling the match in the second spell were a couple of efforts from distance from wingers Alice Birch and Emma McCrory.
Player of the day honours went to goalkeeper Emily Stichbury who put in a terrific effort and if not for her bravery in racing off her line on several occassions, the final margin might have been larger.
The ladies will look to right the ship this Sunday against Lynn Avon at Ken Maunder Park at 11am.
