Daisy's galore and a stolen bicycle prior to kick off, the ladies thirds took on runaway leaders Tuakau today.
From the get go, the young Tuakau side tore into us with a strong presence all over the paddock (pitch if your a POM).
For the first 15 mins they outran and outmuscled us and it was no surprise when they took the lead 13 mins in with a well worked goal, driven into the bottom right hand corner. The signs did not look good.....until a handball in their box (correct and brave decision by their coach) was converted by Sharon.....1-1........"Come and have a go, if you think you're hard enough!"
20 seconds later Tuakau went 2-1 up after a well worked move and finish...yes they were hard enough....and even harder ,when with the last kick of the first half, their SOLID centre half rifled in from 35 yds.
No question, brilliant goal and a fair reflection on the first 40 minutes.
The second half saw a superb team performance from Puke.....notably from Anna Du M and the ever impressive Renelle and Shadae. We had a goal disallowed and half a dozen corners in a row.....in short, we matched them stride for stride in the second 40.
3-1 to Tuakau was how it finished....played in a great spirit, against a team far better than their 5th Division status....lets see what Clendon brings this Weds night, under the lights at Bledisloe.
