Before half time Pukekohe hit the lead again when Gary crossed in a ball from the left wing that became every keepers nightmare - an easy take that somehow bounced off his chest and into goal, a lucky break, "we'll take them anyway we can" said coach Tony Wisnewski.
The second half saw a flow of Pukekohe attacks punctuated with odd attacking forays by Springs. The opposition had two big, fast strikers who toiled all day but were continually frustrated by the Pukeohe defenders. With Ben and Mathew providing pace and no nonsense tackling in the center, Andrew and Cameron cleaned up the fringes and fed the ball forward again.
Two more goals were on the way for Pukeohe. The next was testament to Jamies never say die attitude, chasing and battling all day he found himself in half a yard of space and calmly stroked it passed the diving keeper for a 3-1 lead. The final goal looked simple but was as good as you will ever see in a youth match. Jamie hit a sweet free kick into the far side of the box and Gary met it with a brilliant header into the far side of the goal leaving the keeper stranded. 4-1 and the Pukekohe team and supporters were happy!
This is team improving every week. Last years 14th grade Division One champions are now hunting for the 15th grade title.
