Pukekohe Silver SharksAn outstanding last game by a depleated 8th Grade Silver Sharks team completed their season with a resounding 4-0 victory. Depending on other results, this could have been enough to win the league championship for the plucky young team.

This is an incredible achievement as the team has had a terrible run of injuries and absences which led to them defaulting two games in mid season.

The Silver Sharks started the match with six players against a full strength Papakura Athletic team at Papakura Army Camp. But straight from the whistle the home team were defending wave after wave of Shark attacks.

Remi got the first goal after a goal mouth scramble after five minutes. This was his 10th goal of the season. Was this the start of a feeding frenzy for the Sharks?

The Silver Sharks added a second goal before half time this time scored by Read, his ninth of the season. Luke, Read and Remi all came very close with other shots before half time.

Safarn played great in goal for the first half and was well protected by Anton and Ben who did exceptionally well at making sure the ball stayed in the Papakura half and snuffing out any chances Papakura had to attack.

Remi switched with Safarn in goal at half time, both of them doing great jobs in their respective positions after the break.

Soon after the start of the second half, Read added his second for the game, his 10th for the season and the 3rd for the Sharks.

Luke completed the scoring with a fierce right foot shot from outside of the box. This was Lukes 12th goal of the season making him top goal scorer for the year.

Luke nearly followed it up with a second, but his shot hammered into the post.

Final result, 4-0.

Well done Safarn, Anton, Ben, Luke, Remi and Read. What a super team.

GO SILVER SHARKS!!!!
