Reserve League win heads long weekend

The first victory of the season for the Division 1 Reserve League side was the highlight of the long weekend programme for the club's NRFL squad.

The Reserve League side claimed a 4-2 victory over Onehunga Mangere United AFC at the Mangere Domain to jump off the bottom of the standings.

Teenager Rhys Biddick scored twice in the win with youngsters Andrew Lamborn (who struck in the game's first minute) and Matt Nugent grabbing the other goals in a great team effort.

The side's next outing is against North Shore United AFC at Bledisloe Park on Saturday. Kickoff 12.30pm.

Lotto NRFL Men's Division 1

Meanwhile, the Lotto NRFL Men's Division 1 side couldn't follow the example set by their squad mates as Onehunga Mangere took full advantage of a horror 12-minute spell for the visitors at the Mangere Domain.

Sangster Crawford had given the home side the lead after three minutes but the halftime score was bloated to 6-0 thanks to a 15-minute spell that saw goals to David Carron, Joel Facon, Justin Eiman and Abraham Turner (2).

The match then returned to normality in the second spell as each side scored once with Facon grabbing his second and Eion King getting Pukekohe on the scoresheet. Michael Loftus was also dismissed during the second spell by referee Chris Larkin.

Pukekohe's man-of-the-match went to Eion who was a goal threat throughout the match and in addition to his goal, hit the post and also had one cleared by an opposition defender with the keeper beaten.
