The women's first team were beaten 1-0 by Waiuku in their AFF Championship clash at Bledisloe Park on Sunday.
The Pukekohe side, playing in orange, played some attractive football throughout the match and via their good work in possession created a host of chances to score and win the match which they could not turn home.
Waiuku's goal came mid-way through the first half when a long ball released Gemma Gouland and the visitors' striker did enough to get it beyond Laura Johnstone in the Pukekohe goal despite Laura nearly keeping it out.
Also during the first half, Pukekohe striker Nicola Birch was involved in a heavy collisioin with a Waiuku defender and was stretchered off and taken to hospital for scans.
Pukekohe's player of the day was central midfielder Hayley Smith who was at the heart of much of the home side's penetrating attacking play.
Pukekohe's next match is against Ellerslie at Michaels Avenue Reserve on Sunday. Kick off at 11am.
