Patience is the state of endurance under difficult circumstances. Patience also requires discipline, control, attitude and self-belief all of which were displayed by the players on Saturday and necessary in some appalling conditions. Such qualities contributed to a well battled 1.0 victory, our first league win of the season which enabled us to climb off the bottom of the table.

It's always a brand new road
Dodgin' the same old stones
Coverin' the same old ground
And what goes around is surely gonna come around
(JMayall)

You could be forgiven for feeling the blues after what seemed like an eternity of rain. Bledisloe Park didn’t oblige on this Sunday morning, in its water logged ugliness it was not going to be the venue for the much anticipated coaching clinic with Messieurs Milicich, Emblen and Robertson. Instead the Basketball courts at the Pukekohe Recreational Centre, thanks to the quick thinking of Mr –President- Wild, turned into the stage for 50odd enthusiastic participants.

Papatoetoe Lautoka PP Pukekohe Over 35's

On the day that the Mens 1st team gained a well deserved 1 - 0 victory at Papakura, the Pools Panel were in full swing after 16 metres of rain this week in Auckland.
Their decision to award an away win for the Over 35's busted many a coupon, with most punters banking on a score draw.
The attention now turns to the Euro 2008 final between Germany and Spain. In the absence of any match material, I've tried to have a bit of fun with a finalists flavour.

“Call the Police there’s been a robbery at Bledisloe Park….”

This was Tom’s first comment after the final whistle on Saturday. A considerably changed side from the one that lost 4.0 to Onehunga Mangere on the first day of the season took the field after a well earned rest and began the journey into the second half of the season’s fixtures. For 75 minutes it looked like the 1sts were on there way to a well battled point if not grabbing all three.

Red Devilz’s dance with the Samba Eagles

"When shall we win again?
In thunder, lightning, or in rain?
When the hurly-burly’s done,
When the battle's lost and won.
That will be ere the set of sun.
Where the place?
Upon the heath.
There to meet with them who seethe?
I come, Graymalkin!
Paddock calls.
Anon.
Fair is foul, and foul is fair:
Hover through the fog and filthy air."
[Loosely after WS]
No witches, no witch craft, just some Devilz, plenty of Samba and Eagles, escaping with the spoils.

“Devil with a blue dress, blue dress, blue dress
Devil with a blue dress on
Devil with a blue dress, blue dress, blue dress
Devil with a blue dress on
Fee, fee, fi, fi, fo, fo, fum…”
Yeah alright, unlike Mr. C. Rattue; most of us were there (I am sure I spotted L DM in a chequered shirt over his tight blue jeans boogying it up, clutching a long neck Bud) at the Hammersmith Odeon in ’75 when Jon Landau decided he had seen the future of Rock’n Roll, in persona of Mr. B. Springsteen… funny what a Detroit Medley can do to you. 33 years on we were there when the future of PAFC football graced messy Massey Park, it was all Rock’n Roll but we still got the blues from the show.

“Your perception affects the results of any situation. That means your perception controls reality from any point of view." Russ Stiffler
Remember when Ronaldo once said: “I think we played a great game against Germany and brought joy to ourselves and the Brazilian people.”
Well, if you exchange Ronaldo with me, Germany with The McAttacks and Brazilian with Papakurian than you got the gist of this weekend’s outing of the Devilz. Click on the head-line to get the juicy bits too.
