The ladies' first team had their Uncle Toby's Knockout Cup run ended by 2005 competition runners-up Eastern Suburbs at Pukekohe High School on Sunday but the Maroons can hold their heads up after a magnificent display that gave the visitors an early scare.

Not since Brazil vs. New Zealand have two teams been seemingly so out-matched.
As we sat discussing our game plan (which one would think at the time might have consisted of ‘don’t lose too badly’) and listening to the stats of the opposition – Central played 6, won all, with 36 goals scored for and a mere 7 against, no draws, their worst result when they beat us 3 nil the first game of the season and us dead bottom of the table – things looked a little grim.
