1989 Revisited? WITH VIDEO
By LeeDM @ 9:28 p.m. :: 32 Views :: 1 Comments :: :: Senior Mens Teams

With the top of the table clash between the O'35s and Ellerslie postponed, to be re-played at he end of the season, will this result in the classic Liverpool v Arsenal end of season finale that spawned the Nick Hornby book and movie "Fever Pitch"?

In a tenuous link and with a view to parents supplying holiday DVD Material, I nominate my "Top Ten" Football Films.

Junior Training
By rogpog @ 9:59 p.m. :: 10 Views :: 0 Comments :: :: Club, Youth Teams, Junior Teams

You would have to agree that it is fantastic to see hundreds of kids running around on the park on practise nights. The reason that I got my kids involved in football was to have them active, joining in a team environment and being involved with some great adult role models. From my perspective adults that volunteer and give up their time to coach kids are great people and the type of people I want my kids to be around. Our junior and youth coaches are great people doing a fantastic job - THANK YOU!!!

One problem all coaches are facing is that of more teams needing to fit into our training areas - this has caused a little bit of friction at times but it is nice to see coaches able to work through the issues and share the area available. With a little cooperation and give and take we can all fit in and continue the positive work with the kids. If difficulties do arise shout out to one of the committee members who are often floating around and talk it through, solutions are usually not too hard to find if everyone remembers we are all there to work with kids and be positive role models as coaches and adults.

Pukekohe AFC is going from strength to strength and growing pains are to be expected - lets work through them with a smile.

Good luck to everyone for the rest of the season!

Patience is a virtue….
By SCox @ 5:21 p.m. :: 168 Views :: 5 Comments :: :: Senior Mens Teams
Patience is the state of endurance under difficult circumstances. Patience also requires discipline, control, attitude and self-belief all of which were displayed by the players on Saturday and necessary in some appalling conditions. Such qualities contributed to a well battled 1.0 victory, our first league win of the season which enabled us to climb off the bottom of the table.

It's always a brand new road
Dodgin' the same old stones
Coverin' the same old ground
And what goes around is surely gonna come around

Coaching Clinic with Chris Milicich, Neil Emblen and Grant Robertson

You could be forgiven for feeling the blues after what seemed like an eternity of rain. Bledisloe Park didn’t oblige on this Sunday morning, in its water logged ugliness it was not going to be the venue for the much anticipated coaching clinic with Messieurs Milicich, Emblen and Robertson. Instead the Basketball courts at the Pukekohe Recreational Centre, thanks to the quick thinking of Mr –President- Wild, turned into the stage for 50odd enthusiastic participants.

Papatoetoe Lautoka PP Pukekohe Over 35's
By LeeDM @ 6:56 p.m. :: 111 Views :: 4 Comments :: :: Senior Mens Teams

On the day that the Mens 1st team gained a well deserved 1 - 0 victory at Papakura, the Pools Panel were in full swing after 16 metres of rain this week in Auckland.

Their decision to award an away win for the Over 35's busted many a coupon, with most punters banking on a score draw.

The attention now turns to the Euro 2008 final between Germany and Spain. In the absence of any match material, I've tried to have a bit of fun with a finalists flavour.

“Call the Police there’s been a robbery at Bledisloe Park….”
By SCox @ 11:10 a.m. :: 167 Views :: 4 Comments :: :: Senior Mens Teams
This was Tom’s first comment after the final whistle on Saturday. A considerably changed side from the one that lost 4.0 to Onehunga Mangere on the first day of the season took the field after a well earned rest and began the journey into the second half of the season’s fixtures. For 75 minutes it looked like the 1sts were on there way to a well battled point if not grabbing all three.
