There was ‘Smoke on the water’, lingering over Lake Patumahoe, thanks to the Wind-chill factor and ‘the fire in the sky’, thanks to the sun throwing its piercing rays at the scarce cumulus over Mauku. Red Devilz explore new grounds /Lions find themselves unexpectedly in the big smoke
The Red Devilz hosted the Waiuku Leopards on a crisp windy late morning, the signs were ominous; Waiuku had nothing to play for but the Devilz were looking to extend their unbeaten streak to nine in a row…. The Lions, coming of a 13:2 triumph last weekend were under the week promoted to the 3rd division; their first assignment saw them on a day’s excursion to Howick. How would they deal with the unexpected promotion in their championship round?

The Red Devilz travelled to Drury to meet the Sharks for a lunch-time tussle. Coming off a midweek defeat against the aggressive Tuakau Panthers, the Devilz were out to redeem themselves against yet another predator. The Pukekohe 9th Grade Red Devilz hosted the Maraetai Dragons in picture perfect conditions, the spectacle which unfolded was befitting and the large crowd was raucous, in a nice, exuberant way. Why? Pukekohe 9th Grade Red Devilz travelled to meet the Manurewa Vikings at the War Memorial Park, a war it was not but a battle royal ensued, would the Vikings come out victorious or would the Devilz continue their ‘helluva ride through the grading round? Pukekohe 9th Grade Red Devilz hosted Papakura Ardmore in a game which produced a total of 37 shots at goal, two penalties and three free kicks, goals? You will need to read on to find out.
