Women's firsts see off Bucklands Beach

The women's first team were 3-1 winners over Bucklands Beach AFC at Bledisloe Park on Sunday.

Maroons striker Rose Kraakman scored twice for the home side while midfielder Hayley Smith added the third as the Pukekohe side moved into the top three of the AFF Championship competition with their fourth win from eight matches.

The Pukekohe side played some lovely possession football in the first half and were 2-0 up at the break with every player on the park contributing to a great 45 minutes.

Rose opened the scoring with a neat left footed finish after a quick move down the right flank that began with centre back Sarah Smith and included striker Jasmine Stewart. The home side went 2-0 up when Hayley proded the ball home after some neat work in breaking into the box past three Bucklands Beach defenders.

The visitors strengthened in the second spell and were rewarded for their work with a goal mid-way through the half but Rose finished the game off with her second of the year to complete the job.

Player of the day went to teenage midfielder Hannah Kraakman for a some assured work in both wide and central midfield during the 90 minutes.

Pukekohe's next match is against Eastern Suburbs AFC at Madills Farm Reserve, Kohimarama on Sunday at 11am.
