Pukekohe Silver SharksAn outstanding last game by a depleated 8th Grade Silver Sharks team completed their season with a resounding 4-0 victory. Depending on other results, this could have been enough to win the league championship for the plucky young team. This is an incredible achievement as the team has had a terrible run of injuries and absences which led to them defaulting two games in mid season.

What must have been the most complete performance of the season by the Pukekohe Masters in their 3-0 victory at Lynn Avon on Saturday, has set up the perfect finale to the season. David and GoliathNot since Brazil vs. New Zealand have two teams been seemingly so out-matched. 

As we sat discussing our game plan (which one would think at the time might have consisted of ‘don’t lose too badly’) and listening to the stats of the opposition – Central played 6, won all, with 36 goals scored for and a mere 7 against, no draws, their worst result when they beat us 3 nil the first game of the season and us dead bottom of the table – things looked a little grim.
