The men's first team were beaten 5-0 by visiting Fencibles United AFC at Bledisloe Park on Saturday.
The Maroons fell behind to three soft first half goals and that poor beginning was made worse by the visitors adding two more equally soft goals in the second spell.
With possession roughly equal in the first half, the difference between the two sides was what each team did with the ball when they had it.
Fencibles dominated the territory battle and worked the ball around the pitch well with some neat touches from Ryan Young and Conrad Poi into the feet of the front two of Ricardo Espinoza and Paolo Montino meaning the visitors looked threatening at regular intervals.
However, their first half scoring advantage came on the back of errant passes and poor choices from the Maroons which gifted the league's second-placed side the scoring opportunities which they duly finished.
For their part, the Maroons couldn't string regular phases of possession together and the closest the home side came to scoring was a low first half indirect freekick from Marcus Bathan and a second half lift just over the bar from Rickard.
Man of the match went to right back Ben Johnstone who worked hard throughout the 90 minutes and managed a sliding goal-line clearance to prevent a sixth Fencibles goal.
The next outing for the men's first team is this Saturday's trip to Seddon Fields to face second-bottom side Western Springs. Kickoff 2.45pm.
