Reserves v Unit Mt Buffers

An early free kick  paid off for Uni Mt when their player beat Trent directly from just outside the box. Pukekohe managed to get a couple of calls their way around the box also, only for Wiz to miss his shots by less than a foot on two occasions, and we also forced a save by the keeper from an Elliot Clark free kick. Elliot was then unlucky enough to meet the keepers studs front on soon after and had to leave the field with some nasty cuts and bruises on his leg. Nothing wrong with the studs first slide to get the ball apparently.

Its not often I feel personally responsible for not winning a game, but I have to put up my hand and apologise for my disasterous lack of composure and form in front of the Uni Mt goal, missing at least 3 clear chances in the second half.

Unfortunately we let Uni Mt extend their lead soon after one of my missed chances, when a player was unmarked and headed home a free kick.

Full credit to our boys, especially the younger ones, who didn't back down and kept on fighting. We managed to claw a goal back through Scott, but alas it only left us 90 seconds to score an equaliser.

A 2-1 loss, could have been the other way around.

Big thanks to Roger for reffing the second half of what was a tough match.

The next Reserves match is at home against Three Kings Utd, 12:30pm KO.

Definitely an interesting game! I have never been abused as much reffing before - every blow of the whistle brought abuse. On the plus side - the team held together and did not back down. This game had some shocking behaviour but the young guys learned a lot about playing the game in this situation. Well done to the older players for working hard keeping the young guys focussed on the football and not on the rubbish.
On the return leg I think a request should be made for an official ref and if that dosn't happen than make sure we have 3 club based refs running the centre and lines.
With all that practise Tony I can see a hat trick for you next match!
(Did the opposition know your wife is working hard and achieving great results in her study and dosn't have time for anything else anyway?)

Unlucky lads. Keep the heads up, by the sounds of things you out played them and I am confident you will walk over them at Bledisloe. And Wiz, don't worry mate - I've found when shooting 7th time is a charm...Nice work feller. And if anyone abuses you again, I could teach you my trade mark Eastern Suburbs celebration...works a treat.
