The Flight of the (new) Phoenix

The Flight of the (new) Phoenix

Ben Sigmund, arguably the hottest property in the centre defence of the All Whites and soon to be sweating it out with the Wellington Phoenix in pre-season training, visited Pukekohe this afternoon to catch up with some old mates before boarding the plane that will take him into the reality of his life-long dream.

Ben an old friend and supporter of the Red Devilz took the opportunity to visit Pukekohe, 12 years or so after his short stint at the PHS, to catch up and say goodbye to his Devilz mates.

During a one hour training session which Ben conducted for the Devilz and their friends, the Sun Strikers, he parted with some football secrets, only known to those playing the game at the highest possible level in New Zealand, the All Whites.

Everyone had a funtastic time, what a great unassuming guy and ambassador for the beautiful game who has brought huge smiles to the faces of all involved this afternoon.

Ben, we know you are reading this; the Red Devilz wish you all the very best in your new adventure and congratulate you for achieving your dream. Go strong, brother, the Devilz will be watching you!

On another note;
We wish to thank Caltex for supporting our team again this year and kindly providing a generous contribution to Ben’s petrol account.  –Thanks Caltex-.

Can I just say this; to be told by an incumbant ALL WHITE and professional football player that he enjoyed the visit and his time spent with us gives me 'flutterbys' in the tummmy anf I am proud as punch for the team and the club that we could charm a professional and, simply, nice guy like Ben.
