Maroon pair meet women's pro footballer

Former professional women's footballer Permi Jhooti  was in New Zealand and an opportunity to meet her on Tuesday was taken up by Devon from the 13th grade girls team and the senior womans, and Rachel from Pukekohe 15th grade Sapphires.

The movie "Bend It Like Beckham" was loosely based on Permi's life and struggles as she worked her way up to the first ever womans professional football team in Fulham, England, facing family values where "girls don't play football" Permi faced all adversities to become one of the best womans football players in the world.

Arriving with a fractured foot she spoke extremely well wowing all with her story, then going outside and giving the younger kids a small run with the ball.

For those of us who went it was a wow moment to remember. Thank you soccer2 and Afiff for arranging this awesome event.

PS. if you look hard you will see Devon to the left of Jhooti standing in the back row with Rachel to her right.
