PAFC have been requested to nominate players including Goal Keepers to trial for places on the AFF 2011 Talent Development programmes. Nominations must be forwarded by 12th June 2011. The programme commences in the 3rd term.
Generally it is unlikely players outside the best players in the first team in the respective age group will be suitable candidates.
But girls out side of the first teams and other players, including those playing in mixed age groups or up an age group will also be considered provided a case can be made for them.
However AFF have advised clubs to take a responsible approach and only nominate players who have a real chance of success.
All specialist Goal Keepers whatever division will be considered by PAFC for nomination.
12th Grade 2011, Girls and Boys (1999 born)
Trials lead to the Weir Rose Bowl representative competition with Northern and Waikato Bay of Plenty Football Federations in September/October.
Unlike previous years there will not be one central training centre. There will three or four talent centres to reduce travel.
Unlike previous years players will take part in a regional/zonal tournament within AFF in advance of the Weir Rose Bowl itself. From this the final tournament teams will be selected.
Following the Weir Rose Bowl the players will return to their training centres.
13th and 14th Grade 2011, Girls and Boys (1997 and 1998 born)
As with 12th grade there will be with three or four training centres. This will mean more players in this age group have the chance to enter the talent development programme.
The players in the regional talent centres will have the opportunity to play in a zonal tournament within AFF, and from this there will also be a selection made to represent AFF in inter-Federation competition. At present it is anticipated that this will be in matches against Northern and Waikato Bay of Plenty Football Federations, either as a series of game days or in a mini-tournament.
It is intended there will be trials and selection in Term 3. Selected players will commence activity in Term 3 but the accent will be on increased level of activity after the main club season has finished.
See AFF website for more information on the Talent Pathway.
