The Mens 1st and Reserve teams both enjoyed wins in their last pre-season friendly games against Tokoroa at Pukekohe High School on Saturday.
The Reserves dominated their game from start to finish, with only some inspired Tokoroa goalkeeping helping to keep the score down to 4 0. Goalscorers were Andy Bell (2), Haroon Ali and Gavin Speight.
The 1st team almost went a goal up a minute after the start of their game, but the woodwork robbed them of an early lead. Despite having the bulk of possesion for the majority of the game, the Maroons lack of sharpness in front of goal meant that the game ended 2 1, a result which was far closer than it should have been. Joe Morris scored the goals which put the Maroons 2 up, before Tokoroa scored late on from a corner.
Thanks to Tokoroa for making the trip to Pukekohe, and to the supporters who turned up to cheer both teams on. Saturdays games were the last for Pukekohe before the season gets under way on April 2nd.
