Pukekohe were beaten 4-1 by Papakura City FC as the two bottom sides in the Lotto NRFL Men's Division 1 competition met at Bledisloe Park on Saturday.
Papakura captain Stu Greenaway opened the scoring with his 21st minute penalty, put home at the second attempt after an initial save by Pukekohe 'keeper Andre van Lieshout.
Pukekohe skipper Geoff Rickard replied five minutes later with a clinical header following some neat lead-up play and a great cross by debutant teenager Jack Crane.
Player/coach Steve Upfold missed a great chance to put his side up 2-1 when he headed over the Papakura crossbar from six yards and the visitors made the home side pay when Michael Poulopoulos then struck either side of half time before Dean Delaney provided the final margin later in the second half.
Pukekohe's man-of-the-match went to striker/captain Geoff Rickard who was a constant threat to the Papakura back four.
The side's next outing is their first round Chatham Cup clash with Otahuhu Utd AFC at Seaside Park on Saturday. Kickoff 2pm.
